Airport Shuttle: The Arcadia Airport has a Fly-in camping area for the aviation-minded If you want to go canoeing while you’re in town, just give us a call. It’s sometime iffy if we can do a shuttle pick-up for the start of the trip (we’re usually really busy in the mornings especially on Saturdays), but we can always give you a ride back to the airport. If we can’t pick you up, there are a variety of taxi services in town, but check with us first. Go to Friends of Arcadia Airport at http://foaa.us/for more aviation/camping info. Catering can be before your trip, on the river (Oak Hill), or at the end of your trip. Contact us and we’ll help you work out the logistics.
Experience: We’re the largest and oldest paddlesport outfitter operating on the Peace and developed Peace River paddling over 45 years ago, allowing people the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the area from the seat of a canoe or kayak. We are the first professional outfitter in the state of Florida.
Equipment: Our paddle and camping equipment is well-maintained and cleaned after each use. All canoes, kayaks, lifejackets, and boat cushions are scrubbed after each use. If you bring your own canoe or kayak, we’ll scrub your boat too! Our canoes are 17′ aluminum Grumman, the best of the aluminum canoes, and our kayaks are Emotion, Perception, and Old Town. All our camping gear is Coleman brand and again, cleaned after each use.
Fossil Hunting: Do you need fossil equipment? We have sifters to borrow on a first-come, first serve basis. We also sell sifters and sifter kits. We have sifters and shovels for rent. The Peace River is renowned for its fossil hunting and we have displays, how-to and i.d. handouts, and will try to help i.d. your finds when you come back.
Gardner: We have a satellite office in Gardner which is the take-out for the overnight wilderness trips that are north of Gardner. You always park at the end of the trip, no end of trip pick up, you paddle right back to your vehicles. There are restrooms, rinse stations, and trash disposal. There is also camping at Gardner for overnighters the night before for groups, call for details. The camping at Gardner is not always available.
Gift Certificates: Any trip we do, anything for sale can be included on a Gift Certificate.
Glamping: Want to do some Glamping (glamour camping)? We have a Campmaster service where we set up your camp, cook for you, and take your camp down. We can even entertain your kids with hikes and fossil hunts. You paddle into camp and paddle out. This is available for groups of 20 or more canoes only. Call 800-268-0083 and talk to Diane, Becky, or Trent.
Kid Friendly: We love kids which is why kids, 12 & under, are free as extra people in the canoe. We want you to get those kids to get outdoors. We participate in National Get Outdoors Day in June. Canoes are half price for those folks with a kid in their canoe. This is a national effort to get kids outdoors. We supply fitted jackets (ski vest style) for kids in all sizes, never the orange horse collar style jackets. We offer special pricing to all types of youth groups, see Group Rates on left hand menu.
Kids Can Paddle: Let the kids learn to paddle and get outdoors. This is a special program for organized youth groups and offered weekdays only. You decide to include roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire or not.
Native Plants: We are presently in the process of creating some native plant and butterfly gardens. Butterflies are already getting more plentiful!
Oak Hill: Oak Hill is our exclusive picnic/camping area. There are scattered portable toilets, picnic tables, and hiking trails. Oak Hill is also the put-in for the 5 mile run, an Outpost exclusive. Here’s the ultimate unique service: camping gear delivery as a part of our Campsite Concierge Services. With our Campsite Concierge Services delivery ice and firewood, go to the store for you and deliver the supplies. Having a good time while on the river at Oak Hill and want to stay an extra night or two? It’s only an extra $25 plus tax per canoe per night. The Campsite Concierge can bring you supplies for the extended stay. Free supply delivery if your extended stay is not part of your original reservation!
Pet Friendly: Pets of all sizes and shapes are welcome as long as they are friendly to all people, all other animals, and will fit in the vessel and on leashes. You’ll see our Canine Concierges running around the grounds. Sorry, our Campsite Concierge Services does not include campsite delivery or pickup to and from campsites of pets.
Picnicking: It’s a part of the catering or you can just reserve and bring your own picnic. Contact us to find out the different options and facilities.
Picture Taking: Say Cheese! Taking a group picture? Grab the closest staff member and they will take some pics for you so everyone is in the shot. We’ll also help you to pick a good spot for the photo.
Shuttle Parking: Got your own canoes and you’re a scout or church group? We offer parking of your shuttle vehicle at Gardner for those leery of parking at the public boat ramp. Go to Parking Only about half way down on the Personal Paddlers page for more info.
